The District Chief Executive of Nkoranza North, Hon. Peter Osei Fosu has bemoaned the dreadful consequences of galamsey and activities of Fulani herdsmen in the district.
In an exclusive interview on Sompa Nkoranza's maiden edition of the Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the DCE clarified that some of the Fulani herdsmen migrated from Kintampo, Dawadawa, Bole, etc, and have encroached Nkoranza North posing security threats to the farmers in the community.
"When they come, I barely sleep. Our greatest security threat is the harmful activities of Fulani herdsmen. The menace which is prevalent at Bonte, Bomini, and its environs usually occurs between November and April." he told Owoahene Achaempong.
Hon. Osei Fosu revealed that measures have been put in place by stakeholders to get rid of all unscrupulous persons who are living on their land and causing harm.
Hon. Fosu continued to lament on how tedious his role as the District Chief Executive is especially as there are no funds to sponsor and complete developmental projects.
According to him, he will relentlessly strive to turn the situation around and will award contracts to responsible engineers and contractors to see to its completion.
"At the Assembly, I inherited 8 months of debt which was laborers' salary arrears. Where is the money? We always take risks. It is not easy" Mr. Fosu cried.
He concluded that it will be his greatest pride to complete all unfinished projects and commission them including projects at Kranka, Baafi, Yefri, and Busunya.
