The Tamale International Airport in the northern Region of Ghana is one of the three international Airports in the country and the third busiest domestic airport in the country for flights originating from Accra's Kotoka International Airport.
It has an Expandable Modular Airport Terminal Building designed for Annual Passenger Throughput of 400,000 capacity, according to the Ghana Airports Company.
The Tamale Airport is Ghana's shortest air route to Europe and its runway is big enough to land any kind of aircraft in the world.
The Airport operates international flights mainly during the Hajj season as multiple flights to and from Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are operated.
Two main domestic airlines, Africa World Airlines (AWA) and PassionAir, operate daily services with multiple frequencies from the Kotoka International Airport to the Tamale Airport. It takes at most, 1 hour, 15 minutes to fly to Tamale from Accra.
The airport recorded over 21,7958 passengers in the year 2022.
