The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has been adjudged the best district in the Ashanti Region by the German Development Corporation’s (GIZ’s) for the successful implementation of the Governance for Inclusive Development (GovID) Programme's goals and objectives.
The Assembly came up tops out of the fourteen (14) participating districts in the Ashanti Region.
The GovID programme was inaugurated in October 2019 by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, co-financed by the Swiss and British governments, and had been working closely with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development in Ghana.
Designed to end in September 2023, and being implemented in the Middle Zone – Ashanti, Western North, Ahafo, Bono and Bono East Regions, the programme aimed at enhancing the capabilities of national and sub-national institutions to finance inclusive development in Ghana.
The Award was conferred on the Assembly at the GovID Programme Zonal Close-out event held at Abesim, near Sunyani in the Bono region.
The Chief Executive for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly Hon. Elijah Adansi-Bonah who spoke to the SMS Media after the award said it signifies the efforts put in by officials of the Assembly. He said the Assembly attaches much importance to the programs rolled out by GIZ.

He lauded the officials of the Assembly who have contributed to the successful implementation of GIZ programs.
