The Ghana TVET Service, in collaboration with Don't Go Blind Foundation and Enterprise Bureau Foundation, recently organized an empowerment and awareness creation exercise for trainees and Instructors of Dodowa Technical Institute. The event, held on Friday, August 11, 2023, was aimed at equipping the trainees with valuable knowledge and skills for their future in terms of eye health and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Cosmos Elikplim Gbadago, the School Health Coordinator of the Ghana TVET Service gave his opening remarks emphasizing the commitment of the leadership of the Service to ensure their health and Safety within the Institute and Industry. He entreated the students to seize the opportunity to learn from the preventive eye health education program to foster their health, safety, academics, and lifelong health.
The Executive Director of Enterprise Bureau, Anne Ethel Komlaga, conducted an interactive session on the startup ecosystem, providing valuable insights for the students as future entrepreneurs.
Dr. George Acheampong, an optometrist from the Don't Go Blind Foundation, delivered a comprehensive lecture on combating avoidable blindness and emphasized the importance of eye care. He also conducted a practical session, allowing trainees and Instructors to test the UV protection strengths of various eye-wear options.
Ms. Lydia Agyemang, the Principal of Dodowa Technical Institute, expressed her gratitude to the team and assured the team of her commitment to the Project.
