Nine Community Police Assistants stationed at Ajumako Bisease in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District in the Central Region have arrested one Augustine Ghansah, a prison inmate who broke jail and went into hiding.
The suspect on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 eluded from the Osamkrom Prison Camp in the Agona West District of the Central Region.
A report of the inmate's escape from jail was subsequently made to the Ajumako Bisease Police Station which led to his manhunt.
Contact of the escapee's wife who investigation revealed to be a resident of Ajumako Bisease was later obtained by the police which led to the husband's arrest on Friday, August 18, 2023.
The jailbreaker upon hearing that the police is on a hunt for him went and hid in a thick forest in Ajumako Bisease.
A team of nine (9) Community Police Assistants were dispatched to search for him who after three days spent in the forest got the suspect arrested following a marathon chase after him.
Residents at the area in an interview to Sompa News Eric Annan following the arrest of the jailbreaker showered praises on these nine Community Police Personnel but appealed to the government and the Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare to officially recruit these men into the police force to serve the motherland upon their level of bravery exhibited.
The suspect was then dragged to the Bisease Police Station where he spent the night at the cells but was later sent back to the Osamkrom Prison camp.
