The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has through its continuous exploitation of innovative methods, introduced Africa's first ever locally hosted online census data platform in its initiated Statsbank.
The product which appears an efficient and convenient platform for data users to maximize the value of data and statistics collection was outdoored along with three other user-friendly online platforms namely; the Digital Data Atlas, Rasterized Data, and the Microdata Access at a program organized by the GSS at the University of Cape Coast.
The GSS Statsbank currently has over 350 million statistics, including indicators from the 2021 Population and Housing Census with a comprehensive set of macro-economic indicators.
Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim addressing the media after the insightful program told Sompa News Eric Annan, the GSS's initiated online platforms is in to bridge the gap between the available national data and that which is used by the academia.
He noted that the platforms seizes to provide users all the statistical needs from the 2021 Population and Housing Census in addition to the over 350 million statistics made available on the platform.
Prof. Kobina Esia-Donkoh, Head for the Department of Population and Health at UCC remarked that these platforms has come at an opportune time for all, particularly to those at the academic field with regards to data acquisition.
