German-based Ghanaian medical practitioner, Dr. Abass Ganiu who equally works at the Office of the Vice President has donated assorted medical equipments to the Saltpond Government Hospital in the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region to help enhance the medical centre's treatment to patients.
The Saltpond Government Hospital, established in the year 1920 as the second oldest medical facility in Ghana which recently launched its 103years anniversary, lives with numerous challenges, hence the prompt donation by Dr. Ganiu who was ably supported by the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford.
Items donated to the hospital include, Hospital Beds, Medical Gowns, Delivery Sets, Nose Mask, Silicon, Surgical Equipments, Autoclave Papers, P.O.P Equipments, Giving Sets, Laboratory Sample Collection Tubes, Humidifiers among others.
Excitement surrounding the donation exercise pulled to it, revered personalities like the constituency's former MP and the current Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng together with Nana Kwesi Brebo lll, the Odikrow of Saltpond-Kutu and the Benkumhene for the Nkusukum Traditional Area.
Dr. Abass Ganiu speaking to pressmen appealed to authorities of the hospital to take keen caution in the usage of the donated items to propel him do more for the medical centre as promised.
Medical Superintendent for the Saltpond Government Hospital, Dr. Michael Danso who on behalf of the hospital received the donated items, outlined some challenges confronting the medical centre to laud his colleague medical practitioner and the MP over the donated items which he noted will immensely augment the facility's medical care.
Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford, MP for Mfantseman Constituency having appreciated all whose effort made it possible for the Saltpond Hospital to witness the donation exercise, remarked that Dr. Ganiu aside his philanthropic gesture shown towards the hospital has yet assured her of numerous things he intend to do for the medical facility including the provision of an Ambulance as the hospital builds itself an Ambulance office.
