Pastor of Ramseyer Presby Church at Nkoranza, Rev Clement Afrifa has thrown his weight behind Former President John Dramani Mahama to campaign against any form of coup detat in the country.
According to the clergyman, if Coup D'etat had been profitable, Ghana wouldn't have transitioned to democracy.
He made this bold statement in an interaction with Owoahene Acheampong on Sompa 90.7 FM's Ade Akye Abia where he pressed that autocracy breeds monopoly and that there is no assurance that the soldiers who will seize power can make the country a better place for growth and sustainability.
"The former president is right. We can never replace democracy" Rev Africa echoed.
Two days ago, Former President, John Dramani Mahama urged Ghanaians to uphold the constitution and refrain from entertaining any intentions of endorsing a potential coup d’état in Ghana.
The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress emphasized that despite the current economic challenges in the country, considering a coup should not even be the last resort. This call came in light of recent coups in West African countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, and Niger.
