The community mental health department of the Yamfo College of Health in the Ahafo region has revealed that one out of four people suffer mental health and its related diseases in the country.
Francis Busi, a member of the department speaking on Sompa Ade Akyea Abiaa show in Sunyani Tuesday said, about 2.4 million Ghanaians are suffering from mental health.
World Mental Health Day slated for October 10 is a day to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters.
The theme for this year's celebration is: "mental health is a universal human right."
Mr Busi explained that person suffering from mental health must not be tagged or called as mad people.
He added that, a damage in the brain does not mean a damage in all parts of the body.
Mr Busi told Nana Kwame Owusu Nkwantabisa, host of the show that mental health patient are capable to work hence the need to avoid stigmatizing against them.
