The family of Georgina Asor Botchwey, an aspired to be nursing trainee of the Ankaful Nursing Training College who was gruesomely murdered last year by a self-styled pastor and a chief at Mankessim in the Central Region, with her murder case been heard at the Cape Coast District Court 2 have established to constantly appear in court with forces.
According to them, these forces who emerge invisible to the naked eye, always accompanies them to court to ensure that fair trial is served the family.
Therefore, has issued a firm warning to prosecutors and the attorney general's representatives, following their display the family finds absurd.
This was after the bereaved yet aggrieved family of the deceased appeared before the Cape Coast District Court 2, presided over by His Worship Eric Oheneba Boasiako on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, over the case which is yet to cross its committal stage but has stood for over a year now.
Proceedings this time around saw the court furnished with a bunch of weapons and firearms, allegedly used by the accused persons in effecting the murder of Georgina Asor Botchwey.
These items include: guns, pickaxe, a wrapped alcoholic bottle, shovel, rack among others.
Speaking in an interview to Sompa News Eric Annan after the court proceedings, Papa Annan Swanzy, Uncle to the deceased unleashed venom towards the prosecution team of the case along with the attorney general's representatives to tread cautiously, should in case they've been induced to tactical favour the accused persons through their dealings.
Having thanked the aforementioned magistrate who presided over the case for his resolute stance to have the right thing done, bemoaned the fact that prosecution omitted vital facts like the guns, pickaxe, wrapped alcoholic bottle, and rack it tendered in as evidence before the court in its committal documents to write only shovel which per the family could go against them in subsequent proceedings to be heard.
Aunty to the deceased, Kate Swanzy in her submission shared her profound gratitude to the media over its unwavering pursuit towards her niece's court proceedings, as she vehemently called for justice for the departed soul of Asor Botchwey and that of her shattered mother.
The case has subsequently been adjourned to November 14, 2023, after which it will be transferred to the High Court for judgement, since the District Court do not have the onus to pass judgement on criminal cases.
