Shops numbering over ten (10) have been burnt to ashes at Golden Gate Junction, a suburb of Budumburam in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region.
The fire which started around the midnight of Wednesday, November 22, 2023, is suspected to have been caused by electrical fault according to the Fire Service.
Items lost to the fire outbreak includes: air-conditioners, tyres, foodstuffs among others which runs into millions of cedis, as victims to the incident couldn't control their emotions but cried uncontrollable.
Victims and witnesses to the occurrence couldn't substantiate when exactly the shops caught up with fire, as they narrated only to witness smoke fill up the clouds.
This attracted the attention of close by residents and the Ghana National Fire Service, who tried their maximum best to bring the fire under control.
Victims recounted to Sompa News Eric Annan that Fire Service personnel from Budumburam and Kasoa who combined to combat the fire, got to the scene on time, but for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) who failed to pick-up their calls to off the main power since the incident happened under the area's main GRIDCO line.
D03 Sarah Obimpeh, Commander for the Budumburam Fire Service Command unveiled that primarily investigations conducted disclose the cause of the fire outbreak to come from an electrical fault from one of the affected shops.
She then changed those whose shop fall under the main GRIDCO line to evacuate the location as their lives emerge to be in danger having had the area's electrical plans appear too congested.
