Social Welfare Director for Twifo Atti-Morkwa District in the Central Region, Mr. Kofi Kwakye has shared frustration over the apparent rise in recorded defilement and indecent assault cases (fingering) in the area.
According to him, the widely frowned upon act has caused lot of innocent girl children at Twifo Atti-Morkwa to lose their virginity to vicious men in the locality.
Records available to the media indicates that more than seven (7) defilement cases were recorded in the last five months, signalling 1.3 cases of defilement from July to December, 2023 in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District.
Victims to the unscrupulous haphazard deed in the area have their ages range from 3 to 14-years-old, whereas culprits recorded to have indulge in the condemned act are between the ages of 17 and 25.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan, the Twifo Atti-Morkwa Social Welfare Director advised parents to constantly have their girl children talk to in order to refrain from entering the apartment of men under no circumstance.
Findings conducted reveals that most of these defilement cases had no official statement lodged to the police for an action to be carried upon, but had families involved resort to settling the issue at the house with the least compensation received from the perpetrators without considering the physical and psychological effect victims seize to suffer.
This has become a worrying concern to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa Police Command led by its Commander, Supt. Charles Addae Boateng who implores the collective effort of all stakeholders in the District to aid the police shoulder the fight against defilement.
