35-year-old fisherman, Kofi Wei has met his untimely death after getting drown in the sea at Gomoa Fetteh in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region.

Information gathered depicts that the deceased drowned when swimming to bring a canoe parked on the sea ashore.

Assemblymember for Gomoa Fetteh, Christopher Dadzie in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan revealed that majority of fishermen at the area usually parks their canoes on the sea after work.

Thus round 5pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023, Kofi Wei was made to swim and bring their canoe to the seashore, so himself and fellow fisherfolks can park their belongs in the canoe and go for fishing.

Christopher Dadzie disclosed that after a successful dive into the sea, Kofi Wei failed to come out after some minutes.

This made his colleague fishermen swim in search of him, but unfortunately couldn't retrieve him as he was nowhere to be found upon several religious rituals undertaken to have him discovered.

Hence called on neighboring communities to do well and alert the people of Gomoa Fetteh should they come across the lifeless body of the deceased.

He ascertained that such misfortune rarely occurs in the area, having been a long while the community experienced such tragic news.
