Reports reaching Sompa news emphasize that some officials from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) allegedly urged the constituents of Tarkwa Teberebie to vote again for Teacher Obour, the incumbent assemblyman of the area who met his untimely death amidst the 2023 assembly elections campaign.
Manasseh Addison Sackey, alias “Teacher Obour,” who doubled as the Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, was on board a boat which links Bonsa river to Bonsa Agya and surrounding communities in his electoral area with four other persons when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The canoe capsized along the journey leaving Mr. Addison Sackey and the canoe rider drowned in the river.
During yesterday’s nationwide Unit committee and District Assembly elections, the Teberebie electorates voted massively to retain their deceased assemblyman.
According to sources, the movement was incited by some officials in the largest opposition party, NDC who called on the populace during the deceased’s one week celebration to vote for Teacher Obour to stand in solidarity and to prove their love for their able leader who lost his life. Truly after the polls, the late Teacher Obour carried the day.
In Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye’s interaction with Maxwell on Sompa TV’s Ade Akye Abia, Maxwell underscored the incredible achievement of the late assemblyman.
“Under his watch, Teacher Obour provided more than thirty (30) safety jackets for the community, and lobbied for sustainable developmental projects for his people.” He said.
