Former President John Dramani Mahama has bewailed Ghana to be retrogressing over the consistent corrupt practices under President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo's government.

He recounted the country to be suffering retrogression over the fact that appointees within the Akufo-Addo government seizes not to be stealing from the country.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer made this statement at the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast upon a courtesy visit to the Oguaamanhene, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta ll following day one of his two-day “Building the Ghana We Want” tour in the Central Region.

He bemoaned the present state of the country under the stewardship of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo as porous with several corrupt individuals.

John Mahama described Ghana's current state to require an experience and knowledgeable driver like himself to turn things around for the better, having had the country's immediate driver steer the nation into a ditch.

He stressed on the commitment of the NDC party towards the development of the Central Region which has over the years witnessed the establishment of several projects like the Kotokuraba Market, the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Elmina Fish Processing Plant, and the Komenda Sugar Factory.

To this end, he assured to do everything within his prowess to have the Komenda Sugar Factory fully operationalize under his tenure as the next President of Ghana, should he be voted back to power in the 2024 general elections.

The Oguaamanhene, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta ll on his submission, advised the former President to take keynote of all highlighted needs of the Ghanaian citizenry in his tour to be able to do as required, should faith smile on him to be elected the next President of Ghana.

The former President in the day one of his two-day tour in the Central Region, having visited the Emintsimadze Palace, will have a community engagement at Ayeldo in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency, followed by a durbar with chiefs at the Nyankomase Ahenkro Palace.

He will as well have a durbar of chiefs with party folks at Twifo Praso to crown it all with a community engagement at Jukwa in the Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency.
