Telecommunications giant, MTN Ghana made presentations of about 500 hampers to mothers and kids born on the 25th of December as parts of the company's social responsibility.
The 500 hampers were distributed among all the 16 regions of the country at the regional health facilities, with Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Kwadaso SDA hospital receiving 50 hampers between them on the Christmas day in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to the media, the head of corporate affairs of MTN Ghana in the northern business district, Madam Charity Darko said the gesture has become a yearly ritual from the company to show love to families who incidentally give birth on Christmas days.
She indicated that MTN has been giving out the hampers to the lucky families for the past ten years.
A senior midwife specialist, Gifty Forkuo at the Komfo Anokye hospital advised would be mothers to prioritize seeking medical care from hospitals once they notice they are pregnant. She reminded mothers that since the nine month pregnancy journey was a difficult one it would be reasonable to visit hospitals during the periods to avoid any complications during delivery.
