The Electoral Commission (EC) has been urged to remain firm and steadfast in order not to compromise the commission's
integrity and thereby affect the credibility of the Election 2024, and disturb the prevailing peace of the nation.
According to the Very Reverend Dr Solomon Bruce, the Superintendent Minister and the Synod Secretary of the Sunyani Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana, the position of the nation’s electoral management body in ensuring free,
fair and transparent general election remained critical in consolidating the gains of the nation’s fledgling democracy.
Very Reverend Dr Bruce gave the advice in an interview with the media as the church usher in the New Year with night vigil in Sunyani, the Wesley Cathedral.
He however commended the EC for its integrity in organising successive General Election, which had helped sustain the prevailing national peace and stability.
General elections will be held in Ghana on 7 December 2024 to elect the president and members of Parliament. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo is term-limited and thus ineligible to run again.
The election is expected to be fiercely contested between the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s John Dramani Mahama and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s Dr Mahamud Bawumia.
