Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, a non-governmental organization situated in the United States of America has seen to the refurbishment of deteriorated Cape Coast Castle washroom for visitors who patronizes the castle.
The organization which is generously committed to service, scholarship and giving back to African communities across the globe, had the washroom of the Cape Coast Castle facelifted to commemorate its transformative 2023 birthright journey to Ghana amid several other projects executed in the country.
The Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated is a global women's organization, founded on November 12, 1922, by seven young educators at Butler University in Indianapolis (Indiana) in USA.
Refurbishment of the Cape Coast Castle washroom which was facilitated under the supervision of Team CSR-Ghana is estimated to cost the organization a tune of GH¢150,000.
Dr. Rasheeda Liberty, International President for the organization following the undertaken project outlined that the organization seeks to promote education in Ghana and to also ensure that the youth have the opportunity to be treated well with hygienic facilities.
She further highlighted the organization to have built toilet and laptop facilities, donated computers for research, donated to orphanages, drilled boreholes and have had the hospital bills of about 61 deprived maternity patients paid for upon its visit to Ghana.
The organization following its visit to Ghana, travelled along with about three hundred (300) individuals from the US with the hope to tour virtually the entire country before its departure.
