Managing Director for Behold Thy Mothers Foundation, Mr. Benjamin Ussher Blay has propelled individuals within the country to kill their conceived mentality of aged women being witches.
According to him, this mindset has caused a host of people to ignore in caring less of the well-being of their mothers.
He shared frustration on the fact that mothers are often tagged witches the moment they start to grow grey hair and exhibit menopausal symptoms unlike fathers who virtually go through similar state of growth.
Benjamin Ussher Blay relayed this at a Christmas Party organized in Cape Coast for aged Roman Catholic mothers of 70years and above by Rev. Father David Obeng Piantsil, the former Parish Priest of St. Edwards Parish at Jukwa and the former Director for Jukwa-Krobo Grotto in the Central Region.
These aged mothers at the party were served the ditch of their life and offered a bag of rice each, together with a t-shirt as the oldest amongst them went home with a cloth as well.
The Managing Director of Behold Thy Mothers Foundation having conscientized the need for children to take proper care of their aged mothers, encouraged individuals to have their mothers spend some quality time with them at their homes during this festive season to foster happiness and psychology health in them during this special occasion.
Dr. Eric Arkoh-Ben, a Senior Technical Adviser for the National Development Planning Commission bemoaned the fact that women (mothers) are occasionally celebrated predominantly with one song, being 'Sweet Mother' which was composed by Cameroonian-Nigerian highlife musician Prince Nico Mbarga.
He stressed that the hour has come for Ghanaian artistes to compose more songs to have mothers in the country well celebrated for their immense sacrifices showcased over the years.
Some aged mothers who partook in the party equally expressed their heartfelt excitement and gratitude to Rev. Father David Obeng Piantsil through whom the annually held party was organized.
