Head of Security for Cape Coast Castle, Stephen Gbedemah Dankwah has reacted to the castle's fall in visitor patronage in 2023, attributing it to the country's hike in plane ticketing.
This according to the senior staff of the Cape Coast Castle has forced many foreign visitors to rescind their decision to tour Ghana and subsequently visit the castle compared to that of 2022.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan, Stephen Gbedemah appealed on the government consider its decision and see to it that plane ticket to the country is reduced to a relatively cheaper price to that of countries like Ethiopia, South Africa, and Rwanda.
He disclosed that visitor patronage to the castle from January to November 2023 appeared to be on the low, only for it to ascend in the last couple of weeks.
Mr. Gbedemah further opened up on local patronage to the castle to have increased over time amid the country's change in educational curriculum from teacher centred education to student centred education, as schools from all parts of Ghana travel to visit the Cape Coast Castle.
