The Paramount Chief of Abrem Traditional Area in the Central Region, Nana Kyiriwia Kodie V has called on government and investors to come to the aid of his area with businesses as unemployment rate among youths in his traditional keeps rising.
He bewailed that the area's lack of business ventures has led to most girls getting pregnant at a tender age, thereby, leaving the area with a high teenage pregnancy rate. Thus call for investors to the land with businesses which in tune will reduce the area's teenage pregnancy upsurge.
Nana Kyiriwia Kodie in his quest for businesses into his area, required on government to have a company established at the area from its one-district-one-factory initiative, as there are vast acres of land available for such request.
The newly gazetted chief further requested for a technical or vocational secondary school in the area since Senior High School students at the traditional area trek miles away to attend school.
He also requested for the desilting of the Abrem Berase water body since it has over the years contributed to the annual flooding of the area, rendering a host number of residents homeless whenever it rains.
Nana Abena Akowo Okogyeabuo lll, Paramount Queen Mother for the Abrem Traditional Area having called on government for a befitting palace for the paramountcy, adviced parents of the area to place keen eye on their teenage girls in other not to have them return home with pregnancy.
She again fumed at the government's policy to have pregnant girls go to school with their pregnancy which she referred won't help in the fight against teenage pregnancy, as this has caused most adolescent girls in the area to be swollen headed with hopes that they can still further their education should they get pregnant along the way. Hence call on government for the scraping of that policy.
Queen Mother for Abrem Berase, Nana Aba Effuwah ll expressed confidence in the traditional area's newly gazetted chief to put things in place to have investors troop to the area with businesses to have youths of the area get employed in other not to embark on fruitless greener pastures.
