Newly inaugurated Assembly Members of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly have been charged to prioritize the fight against poor sanitation.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon John Ansu Kumi indicated that the Assembly Members must lead the fight through rigorous public education, communal labour and any other means possible to ensure a clean environment in the Municipality.
"We must ensure that the investment made by the central government and the municipality to manage waste is not wasted", he stressed.
The MCE was speaking at the inauguration of the eighth (8th) Sunyani Municipal Assembly at the forecourt of the Assembly on Monday February 12.
Mr Ansu Kumi also implored the newly inaugurated Assembly Members and government appointees to endeavor to learn the rudiments of their office in order to keep abreast with the standing orders of the Assembly, without forgetting the bye-laws.
"I wish to take this opportunity to urge you to draw on the wisdom and capacity of the older members, keep in touch with your electorates to bring their concerns to the Assembly so that together we find solutions to them."
He assured them of his readiness to continually work together with them to bring development to the people of the Municipality.
His Honour Sylvester Nii Okai Ablor, a circuit court Judge in Sunyani supervised the swearing in of the 34 elected Assembly Members and 15 government appointees.
