General Manager-Operations for Hollard Insurance Ghana Limited, Mr. Alexander Osei Mensah has compelled students in the country to strive to become a boss of their own after school other than seek to be employed.
He encouraged students in the country to look beyond persevering to work for someone to rather create a business of their own through innovative entrepreneurial skills.
The Hollard Insurance General Manager echoed this following his outfit's 2nd edition of the Hollard Streetwise-Finance Business Challenge held at the University of Cape Coast.
A competition facilitated by Hollard Insurance Ghana to grow student business startups in the country, which latest edition witnessed ten (10) student business startups battled it out for an ultimate cash price of GH¢40,000 which went to Jnelp Cosmetic as winners of the eventful business challenge.
Student startup businesses which had the opportunity to participate in the inspiring competition include, Overseas, Gamkrib, Career Paths, Delsoy Foods, Shuttle Track, Prifrimps Food, Jnelp Cosmetic, Geia Technology, Firefly I.O, and Zenags Organics.
However, Career Paths and Zenags Organics emerged 2nd runner-up and 1st runner-up respectively, who took home an amount of GH¢10,000 and GH¢20,000 apiece.
Mr. Alexander Osei Mensah cautioned to be no jobs anywhere awaiting fresh graduands in the country to employ, hence beholds on Ghanaian students to come up with innovative solutions, intended to solve one business problem or the other but carries the tendancy to create job for others by way of employment.
He further described the competition to sort out for business studies students across the country with unique business startups to invest in their innovation to motivate Ghanaian students inculcate the zeal to setup their own businesses to help reduce the country's unemployment rate.
Portia Sackey, the Chief Executive Officer for Jnelp Cosmetic, producers of soap and shower gel who emerged winners of the competition, encouraged students with startup businesses never to give up early on challenges they may encounter along the line, but persevere to see their business grow.
Upon relaying her heartfelt appreciation to Hollard Insurance for its support, the CEO noted that the cash price received will go a long to help her business secure tricycles to distribute its products to shops as well as extra filling machines to boost production for the business, since demand keeps soaring.
