Residents of Komenda in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency of the Central region have hit the street with placards to demonstrate to authorities of the area over the dusty nature of the Komenda-Kissi road stretch.
The demonstration comes after series of complaints made by residents of the area over the present state of the road which appears to have fallen on deaf ears, as appropriate quarters in charge to see to the situation seems unconcerned.
Residents chide to be dying of lung diseases and headache from dust which consistently emanates from the road as cars ply on it, leaving them with immense difficulty to stay indoors, either in the morning, afternoon or night to catch a good sleep.
Information has it that the under-construction road network was first awarded for construction in 2016, but has since witnessed seven (7) different contractors work on it, as current constructor assigned for the work, abandoned the project over unpaid arrears over a year now.
Residents in venting their displeasure over the dusty nature of the Komenda-Kissi road, burnt car tyres and sticks to block road users from accessing the road.
This got most students who access the road to school daily, return home as taxi drivers of the area declined to work in the morning but demonstrate to express their displeasure to authorities of the municipality.
House owners of the area who partook in the demonstration, revealed to be incurring losses as tenants persistently reject renting their accommodation over the dusty nature of the road which has taken over their rooms.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan, residents bemoaned the fact that both the former and current Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Solomon Ebo Appiah hails from the area but still have their complains made over the road remain unattended to.
They recounted that teachers posted to the community, when coming to work, have to change two to three times to look good over their confronted dusty road challenge.
Nursing mothers over the encounter, expressed to be in a state of dilemma as they currently lives dangerously with their kids over the dusty road.
According to residents, the dusty nature of the Komenda-Kissi road has resulted to several accidents with many casualties. Some of whom are students, as drivers find it difficult to clearly see what is ahead of them when using the road.
