Authorities of Berekum Traditional Council has bare teeth on the leadership of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) over the recent power cuts within Berekum and its surrounding communities.
According to Osaberima Kyere Yeboah, the Benkumhene of Berekum and acting President of the Berekum Traditional Council charged the leadership of NEDCo in the area to work assiduously in ensuring effective power supply within the area. He added that NEDCo must create awareness of Nananom and the people of Berekum on problems and challenges resulting in the power cut rather than switching off the lights without prior knowledge of Nananom and the people of Berekum.
On his part, the Bono regional Manager of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) Mr. Eugene Addo explained that they face a lot of challenges which lead to the continuous power cut and pleaded with the people to cooperate with them to ensure the success of NEDCo and VRA. He said most of their challenges are a result of the conduct of the people explaining that most people cut down trees on the high tension line with other similar cases which constantly lead to power outages
People in Berekum who use electricity for their works also told Sompa News that, they are pleading with Nananom to call on NEDCO and VRA for them to explain why there is too much light out in Berekum because light is what they use in doing their business as dressmakers because when they have light out they find it difficult doing their work.
