Minister for the Central Region, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan has encouraged Ghanaians to do everything possible to guard against factors which bears the capability to impede the country's peace and democracy enjoyed over the years.
As 2024 marks an election year on the Ghanaian calendar with various political parties and interest groups expected to mount platforms across the length and breadth of Ghana with different messages, assisted the Central Regional Minister to propel the citizenry of Ghana to take cues from what happened in countries like Sierra Leone, Sudan, Congo, Somalia, Colombia, Liberia, Ivory Coast, among others over ones selfish taste for power.
She, therefore, urged stakeholders from the public and private sectors, civil society organisations, and Ghanaians in general to rededicate themselves to the course of Ghana's development.
Hon. Justina Marigold Assan further elaborated the need for all to work much harder to reduce corruption and poverty to build more infrastructure, create jobs for the youth, and empower women for the sustenance of the country's development.
She assured that the New Patriotic Party of which she forms part, will continue to strengthen the pillars of Ghana's democracy to make it more inclusive, participatory, and accountable.
The Central Regional Minister again stressed that Ghana having gone through the changing faces of democracy, its democratic transition since late 2008 till date, has been more successful and attracted various international commendations.
Speaking at the 67th Independence Day Celebration in Cape Coast on the theme: "Our Democracy, Our Pride," Hon. Justina Marigold Assan eulogized Ghana's practiced democracy to be a shining example on the African continent.
An accomplished milestone she outlined to have been realized as a testimony to the country's commitment to good governance, the rule of law, and the respect for human right.
