Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti Region have this morning clarified that they are not on strike contrary to news already circulated in the media.
This follows earlier communique signed by some senior medical officers of the facility threatening strike over their accommodation misunderstandings. In a letter sighted by SOMPA NEWS, the doctors had explained that members are being harassed with persistent orders to move out of their Danyame residences in Kumasi.
But speaking to SOMPA NEWS reporter, Kwame Wiredu Dr. Michael Leat, who is the head of the Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, said their decision was not to embark on a strike but to ensure the issues raised on their accommodations are resolved accordingly.
He indicated that they would remain at post and attend to patients already on admissions, adding that they could not attend to news cases.
Speaking to the Public Relations Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Mr. Kwame Frimpong assured that the management of the Hospital would ensure that the crisis was brought under control to ensure the medical officers would have the happiness to go about their work freely.
Meanwhile, some stranded patients who has come from other regions to seek medical attention outside the region said they have been left frustrated since the doctors were not swift compared to some few days earlier.
The pleaded to the President, the Regional Co-ordinating council and the senior medical officers to ensure their issues were addressed else they are going to pay for the situation.
