Rebecca Yeboah Foundation, a non-profitable organization has gathered widows and widowers of Amamoma in Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana to a feast at the recently earmarked Easter festivity.
The event was occasioned to see the financially vulnerable aged be made to make merry in commemoration of the widely celebrated festivity.
The feast saw over 50 widows and widowers partake in the foundation's Easter get-together held on Sunday at the Amamoma Community Centre.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan after the feast, Mr. Hammond Nii Martey Larbi, Owner and Patron to the Rebecca Yeboah Foundation, recounted to name the foundation after his late mother who throughout her life, wholesomely dedicated herself to help the poor and needy.
He echoed that widows and widowers are often neglected during festive occasions like Easter, hence the decision to have them make merry to feel part of the society.
Mr. Hammond Nii Martey Larbi added that these aged ones are mostly held indoors with little or nothing to cheer them on.
Thus, the motive behind the get-together to have them catch a glimpse of their youthful age, for them to as well come out and make companion with others at the feast.
He disclosed to be the aim of the foundation to set these widows and widowers up in any kind of business which will best suit their capability, stressing that the get-together wouldn't be a one-off occasion but an annual event.
