Pragya drivers in Cape Coast in the Central Region have betold their business to be suffering a number of challenges in recent months, which have significantly affected their daily sales unlike previously.
According to them, the ever rising unemployment rate in the country, has motivated majority of youths in the Cape Coast Metropolis to venture into the tricycle business, otherwise known in Ghana as 'Pragya' business.
In view of this, many have resorted to the purchasing of tricycles into the Metropolis for business purposes.
This has sort to choke the transport system in Cape Coast, thereby, contributing to the dwindling in the sales of Pragya drivers in the area.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa News Eric Annan, a driver in the Pragya business asserted that Pragya drivers in Cape Coast have increased significantly, thus, leading to stringent competition among drivers for passengers.
The Pragya driver who consented to spoke on the grounds of anonymity, stressed that as individuals in the Metropolis continuous to search for ways to generate income, following the ease of signing up to the Pragya business, have resorted to become Pragya drivers instead of directing their attention elsewhere.
He attributed this to have cause the decrease in profit among Pragya drivers in Cape Coast.
He added that since the business has made it relatively easier for youths in the Metropolis to become Pragya drivers, have attracted many to the platform, specifically individuals below 18-years which makes it worrisome.
