Acting Commissioner of Insurance, Michael Kofi Andoh has partially downplayed reports that insurance companies in the country usually retard in paying claims to legitimate insurance clients.
He emphasized that processes through which insurance companies are assigned to follow in issuing customers their insurance claim, ordinary demands fewer period, but for the police and medical reports which often delays the process should any of them be required for a client to access his claim.
The Acting Insurance Commissioner relayed this after the 2024 Stakeholders Consultation Conference held by the Central Regional Office of the National Insurance Commission, dubbed, "Enhancing Economic Development in the Central Region Through Inclusive Insurance."
Michael Kofi Andoh assured that the National Insurance Commission going forward will liaise with appropriate quarters like the Medical and Dental Council to see how best the challenge of delay in insurance claims can be resolved.
He noted that the conference which witnessed the presence of chiefs, the police, drivers, the fire service, traders, civil servants, teachers, insurance companies among others, sort to unravel ways through which the financial status of individuals in the Central Region can be enhanced through insurance.
Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah, the Central Regional Area Manager for the National Insurance Commission, encouraged the general public to be wary of the terms and conditions stipulated in an insurance product, seeing to it that the package intended to purchase is fully understood before one can commit himself to it.
She advised insurance clients to make intentional effort to keep every document associated to their insurance product in safe hands in other to aid the National Insurance Commission be in good stance to offer its outmost assistance in case any unforeseen circumstance erupts.
