Minister for the Central Region, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan has urged Muslims of the land to pray for peace and harmony to continually exist between residents of the region as Ghana finds itself in an election year.
She stressed that where there is chaos, development can never take place, as without peace marriages can't flourish.
The Central Regional Minister added that without peace, politicians will be held hostage from going about their normal political duties. Hence, the need for Muslims to pray and ask of God (Allah) to bless the country with peace and unity after embarking on a sacred month of fasting and prayers.
Hon. Justina Marigold Assan relayed this at an Eid Ul-Fitr prayer durbar held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Cape Coast to climax Muslims one month-long fasting and prayers.
The Minister at the gathering encouraged all and sundry, particularly youths of the region not to allow themselves be used by politicians to carryout unscrupulous acts to satisfy their selfish gains.
Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, Hon. George Ricketts-Hagan at the ceremony hailed Muslims over their meritorious prayers offered for Ghana's current, outgoing and incoming leaderships.
He, however, shared optimism that thanks to prayers offered by the Muslim community in his constituency, John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress, the party's running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and himself will surely emerge victorious after the country's December 7 polls.
Sarki Mahamudu Dende, the Central Regional Zongo Chief at the event, having highlighted the Region to be one that has periodically conducted itself from election related chaos, advised politicians present to do all they can to sustain the land's peace and stability enjoyed over the years.
