The Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of Suame in the Ashanti region, Hon. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye has urged the Minister of Energy Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to as a matter of urgency come out with a comprehensive time table for the regulation of the ongoing power outages experienced in most parts of the country.
According to him, the NPP government has undertaken monumental projects in the last seven years but the way and manner the dumsor is being managed in recent times was fast taking a toll on the party’s achievements.
Speaking on Sompa FM’s Ade Akye Abia show in Kumasi on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 Hon. Ofosu Boakye said the complaints by the people with regards to how the energy crisis was managed is making life unbearable for lots of Ghanaians.
Hon. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye was in consonance to similar calls by the Governance Expert Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah who has asked the government, through the state power distributor, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to release a load-shedding timetable.
During an interview with TV3 News on Monday, April 22, Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah proposed that the wise thing to do is to issue a timetable.
He further criticized the government for the snail’s pace with which it is finding solutions to the power challenges.
But Hon. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye insisted that the current situation makes the provision of a time table worthwhile since it would make the management of the energy crisis better.
He stated that irrespective of the periods of the power maintenance by the Electricity Company of Ghana it was still necessary for a comprehensive time table in the meantime. He said the decision to impose a time table was not a mark of failure in the management of the energy situation but to speak truth to power.
