Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong has hinted the Spanish government has realized the enormous contribution of the Diapsorans in the country adding they contribute to 10% of the Gross Domestic Product annually.
According to the Minister, in spite of the strenuous manner the people in the Africa continent find their way to Spain through the desert and on the Mediterranean, they have become a major economic player of their economy.
Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Asante Mampong said this today in Spain during an interview with our reporter, Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye under the auspices of the Afrodiaspora conference aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations with the African continent.
He further explained that Spain’s population was made of several millions of the dispora mostly influx from other countries who have come to settle to engage in all manner of economic activities that were beneficial to the government of Spain.
The Minister who was amongst the keynote speakers at the conference said he was confident his address would proffer solutions to some of the challenges faced by the disporans in their quest to travel to the Spain.
Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong espoused that the contributions of the disporans has become extremely profitable to their benefactor countries looking at their contributions to the economic growth of such countries. The four day conference saw other attendees from other African countries as well as European countries directly impacted by the activities of Africans from the Sahel region.
