Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II climaxed Silver Jubilee Celebrations with a colourful durbar at Dwabirem, Manhyia Palace showcasing Asante pomp and pageantry.
Asantehene's Silver Jubilee durbar coincided with Akwasidae on 12th May, 2024.
The celebrations began with the procession of Chiefs and, Queen mothers with colourful Kente Clothes adorned with gold ornaments who make their way to the Manhyia Palace.
The Asantehene procession included the Golden Stool which is kept in sacred place and was brought out during this celebration, Sanaa and other treasures and regalias were brought out to show the world.
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sat in state with the Sika Dwa Kofi (Golden Stool) surrounded by his advisors, courtiers and other palace attendance, while the people gather around to watch the proceedings.
The next procession was the most powerful woman in the Kingdom, the Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III who sat in Seko.
This Silver Jubilee Celebrations was a colorful and lively affair, with drumming, dancing, singing filling the air firing of musketry and the fascinating shield dance. Present was also the Mponponsuo State Sword, the Exculibur of the Asante Kings
One of the highlights of this Silver Jubilee Durbar was the presentation of gifts to the Asantehene.
Present during this occasion were the President of Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawuwia, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. Keith Rowley, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Awomefia of the Anlo State Togbe Sri III, Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Tsuru II, Clergyies, Representatives of various head of States and host of other dignitaries.
