The Fire Service Ladies Association (FISLA), a female organization in the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in its national celebration of the Mother's Day Month, has awarded a selected number of deserving pensioned and in-service female fire personnel for their dedicated and exceptional contribution to the service.
FISLA's annually earmarked Mother's Day Month which occasionally comes off at the GNFS national headquarters in Accra, this year was hosted and held by the association's Central Regional fraternity in Cape Coast.
Celebration of this year's Mother's Day Month, witnessed a mammoth fire safety sensitization float through the principal streets of Cape Coast on Friday which was climaxed with a dinner and awards night at the Central Regional headquarters of the GNFS.
ACFOI Doris Lamptey, the Tema Regional Commander for GNFS and the National President for FISLA in an interview with Sompa TV's Eric Annan after the association's float, touched on the criteria for selecting deserving awardees to be on their exemplary performances in combating fires.
She again recounted the fight against fire outbreaks to be a shared responsibility, thus, beseeched the general public to be wary of fire safety.
Commander for the Central Regional GNFS, ACFOI John Amarlai Amartey at the awards night, commended FISLA to have shown that bravery knows no gender and that excellence is born out of dedication, zeal and relentless effort, having balanced professional duties with domestic responsibilities to go above the call of duty.
He congratulated awardees over their achievements which emerges a beacon of what is possible through hard work and perseverance which will sent high standards for everyone, as their stories of courage and commitment will inspire future generations of female fire fighters.
ACFOI John Amarlai Amartey further encouraged FISLA to continually build good forms of solidarity and mutual support, as together they can achieve greater heights.
Some awardees in appreciation, motivated female fire officers across the country to master the encourage to explore other fields in the service, as they can as well excel at areas predominantly occupied by males.
They equally advised colleague fire personnel to submit to authorities to be taught well in other to swerve the numerous challenges associated with the service.
