Madam Safiatu Ibrahim popularly known as Midwife Safia, midwife at Our Lady of Grace Hospital in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District in the Central Region has gladdened the hearts of students in Breman Supon, specifically its girls with the celebration of this year's world menstrual hygiene day.
Celebration of the event is aimed at educating female students in the area on how to use the sanitary pad during their menstrual period.
In an interview with the midwife, she stated to know the implications school girls go through during their menstruation period, hence, thought it wise to organize these students in the district to create awareness on personal hygiene.
She presented over one thousand pieces of sanitary pads for these school girls.
Chief Executive Officer for CARE FOR ME AFRICA, Madam Ivy Nyarkoah Taylor after the program added that its time for all to come on board to educate our young ones, as during the period of menstruation, numerous girls get infected over the fact that they are ignorant on how to go around their menses.
She also advised parents to create the enabling environment to have their children feel free to talk to them during their menstrual period and should also provide them with sanitary pads and educate them on menstrual hygiene.
Some students also shown their heartfelt gratitude to Madam Safiatu Ibrahim for the opportunity to be educated on menstrual and personal hygiene and asked the protection of God on her.
