Preparations are in full swing for the Green Ghana Day 2024, with the Forest Services Division (FSD) taking proactive steps to ensure a successful event.
The Executive Director of FSD, Mr. Hugh Brown, on behalf of the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission Mr. John Allotey, has tasked the FSD Management Team to visit all 16 Regions and their Districts to assess their level of preparedness.
Recently, Mr. Kwame Agyei, Regional Manager, Plantations Department, and Mr. Daniel Adu, Head, Public Relations, FSD, visited the Western and Western North Regions to monitor their activities, analyze progress, and identify challenges.
The duo inspected key sites selected for planting in the Bibiani Forest District, Sefwi Wiawso, Juaboso, Enchi, Asankragwa, Tarkwa, and Takoradi District Offices.
During the visit, Mr. Kwame Agyei was briefed on site selection, site preparation, pegging, ceremonial planting sites, species selection, and the expected contribution of private plantation developers.
The team observed that preparations are underway, with sites being prepared and pegged, and species selected for planting.
Green Ghana Day, under the auspices of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, aims to promote afforestation and reforestation efforts nationwide.
The FSD's proactive approach will complement existing efforts to ensure a successful event while promoting a greener Ghana for future generations.
