Central Region in the 4th edition of the Green Ghana Day slated for June 7 is set to plant 600,000 trees across the region this year.
This came to light when the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Mr. John Allotey visited the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to witness the region's preparation towards the tree planting exercise.
With a national target of 10 million trees to be planted across the country, this year's seedlings will include normal trees, fruit producing and ornamental plants.
Mr. John Allotey in his remarks urged officers from the Forestry Commission and the Regional Coordinating Council to use this year's exercise to also inspect trees planted in the last three editions.
He also encouraged all Ghanaians to take part in the upcoming exercise.
The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan on her account, pledged that the RCC and all MMDA's will continue to support the exercise to ensure a greener region.
