Residents of Breman Okukrom in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District in the Central Region have bitterly lamented over the deplorable state of the Okukrom D/A Basic School, the only elementary school the community prides itself with.
They claim their Member of Parliament, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Lawrence Adutuah Asiaw and the Akufo Addo-led NPP government to have all turned death ear to issues concerning their school.
Committee members of the community in an interview, disclosed their children to be sharing the peeved on structure with sheeps, goats and all kinds of animals and thus can't sit unconcerned as leadership of the area for politicians to toil with the future of their children after series of unfulfilled promises to construct the area an ultramodern classroom block.
According to them, the MP promised to build them a new school should he be re-elected in the 2020 general election.
Unfortunately, after voting to retain him, he has turned to complain of his political party not been in power and can only do so unless his party gains power hopefully in the 2024 election, same as their DCE whose promise is also yet to be fulfilled after three years.
They have, therefore, warned no politician from any of the political parties to step foot at the community in the upcoming general election slated for December 7 to solicit for vote, should their school continue to be overlooked.
Some market women in the community also complained of the area's bad nature of road which has led to the death of three pregnant women since commercial drivers due to the poor road network have been forced from driving to the community.
