27-year-old Nigerian, Dery Winner has been remanded into police custody by the Ofankor District Court for stabbing his country friend by name Nann, popularly known as Andrews after an ensued argument.
The incident which occurred at Liberian Camp, a suburb of Buduburam in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region, saw the victim stabbed on the neck multiple times by the suspect.
Sources reveal that the incident happened at the apartment of a colleague Nigerian who the two lives with at the same compound.
Information gathered has it that the suspect after bantering words with the victim, entered his room and pulled a broken bottle which he used in stabbing his country man.
Victim after his sustained critical condition, was rushed to the St. Gregory Hospital at Buduburam, where he was admitted and has successfully been treated and discharged.
Nana Amoasi, landlord to the apartment where the deed occurred said, the suspect after committing the heinous act, took to his heels, but for the help of the police who later apprehended and arranged him before the Ofankor District Court where he was remanded and made to reappear before the court on July 1, 2024.
The landlord bemoaned the increasing rate of crime perpetrated at Buduburam and called on the Interior Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey, the Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akufo Dampare, and all security agencies to beef up security to clamp down criminals at the area.
The victim in a media engagement, noted to find no reason for his unexpected attack by the suspect, but expressed gratitude to the police for arresting him.
He recounted that the suspect have on several occasions issued him threats on any slightest provocation, but unmaliciously ignored all the signs, which has led to his sustained injury.
