Queen Mother of Abura in the Oguaa Traditional Area in the Central Region, Obaahemaa Ekua Okutta lll has advised Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates of the Abura T.I Ahmadiyya 'B' Basic School in Cape Coast to stick to their books at this crucial stage in their academic journey.
Obaahemaa Ekua Okutta compelled candidates to befriend their course books and shun away from phones, social media and television, since they've barely a week to sit for their final exam.
She made this statement at the school's 2nd speech and prize giving day ceremony, celebrated on the theme, "Achieving Academic Excellence, The Role of Stakeholders."
The ceremony saw some forty-eight (48) BECE candidates and twenty-five (25) KG2 pupils of the school, graduated to the next stage of their academic journey.
The Queen Mother further impelled parents to keep close eye on their wards against any lifestyle capable to disrupt their children's future and beseeched teachers to hold onto their selfless care, dedication and patience in nurturing these pupils for a brighter tomorrow.
Headmistress for the school, Mrs. Hameeda Haruna-Appiah recounted that despite successes chopped by the school, it still faces some challenge on infrastructure, inadequate furniture for teachers and students, as well as limited classroom infrastructure.
She added that the school also battles a challenge in teaching and learning materials and requires a library and computers for ICT education, together with a storage facility to house the school's science apparatus donated by the Korean International Development Agency (KOICA), as the school looks forward to continue collaboration to improve its standards.
