One person has been shot dead after a group of people believed to be land guards invaded the palace of Nai Kwaku Osardu III, the Chief of Bawjiase in the Awutu Senya West District in the Central Region ahead of the new chief's outdooring slated for Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Information gathered by Sompa TV's Eric Annan, indicates the victim was gun down on Monday, August 5, 2024 around 10:45pm upon the invaded attack by the suspected land guards numbering over twenty (20).
The attack has since sent abject fear down the spines of residents in the community.
Gyasehene of Awutu Bawjiase, Nai Kwame Korabi Opeikuma IV speaking in an interview, revealed the community to be battling chieftaincy uproar for the past 25 years now, until the matter was resolved this year by the National House of Chiefs.
According to the Gyasehene, the verdict by the National House of Chiefs saw Nai Kwaku Osardu III eligible to be enstooled the next chief of the community which seemed not to have gone down well with his rivals, hence had to resort to attacking him at night.
Nai Kwame Korabi Opeikuma asserted that they were making necessary preparations to customarily outdoor the soon to installed chief to residents of Awutu Bawjiase when their opponents came with heavily armed land guards on motor bikes, leading to the death of a young man.
No arrest has since been made on the matter, since suspects are yet to be identified by the police.
