Chairman for the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District in the Central Region, Mr. Emmanuel Nkrumah Assan has appealed to government to also support the private schools as he does to public schools in the country.
He said that as Private schools, they pay taxes to the government each year, only to have it pay registration fees to solely government schools while private school pupils pay for their own registration fees.
Mr. Nkrumah said that in as much as they conform to paying taxes as an institution, they equally pay SSNIT for their workers but often have the government neglect them when distributing chalks and textbooks, particularly for the new cariculum.
He said this at the graduation of Hi Gate Christian Education Complex at Breman Asikuma where he outlined private schools to be suffering, hence made a clarion call to the government for support.
Proprietor for Hi Gate Christian Education Complex, Mr. Frank Appiah highlighted to be confronted with a lot of challenges at his school.
He identified the school to be in need of additional school blocks to contain students and has commenced the construction of a toilet facility which the school requires support from corporate entities and individuals.
