A misunderstanding between some youth of Wenchi and Nkonsia in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region turned bloody and led to the death of one person and three people sustained serious degrees of injuries.
The body of one Alhassan Mohammed Ayuuba, 21 years, had since been deposited at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Five motorbikes were also burnt during the riot which happened on Saturday August 18, 2024 during a night club held at Nkonsia, a suburb of Wenchi.
A Senior Nurse at the Emergency and Accident Unit of the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, only known as Anthony, confirmed the death to Sompa FM and added three victims were brought to the facility around 5:30 am on Sunday August 18, 2024.
Unfortunately, Mohammed passed on, he said adding one of the victims was treated and discharged while another one Ayuuba Adamu is still on admission responding to treatment.
Adamu, 22 years, who narrated the incident to Sompa FM said he and other friends attended the night club, christened "Agado Night".
He said he went to urinate and a young boy snatched his mobile phone and he raised the alarm and together with his friends chased and arrested the alleged thief.
Adamu said thief shouted for help some people came and in the process of rescuing him, a misunderstanding erupted which turned to a riot between them.
In the process of the melee, Adamu said they stabbed him and the deceased and with the help of others they were sent to the Koase Hospital, and later referred to the Wenchi Methodist.
According to Adamu, friends heard the story and rode their motorbikes to Nkonsia, but the youth of the town mobilized themselves, attacked them and set the motorbikes ablaze.
