Head of the Architecture Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Rexford Assasie Oppong has eulogized the untapped strength in Ghana's adinkra symbols.
According to the university lecturer, the country's indigenous symbols possesses unique qualities in fostering the sustainable development Ghana so aims at.
He said this in an engagement with the media at the 13th Sustainable Education and Development Research Conference hosted by the Cape Coast Technical University at the University of Cape Coast, dubbed "Inclusive and Quality Equitable Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for Researchers."
Prof. Assasie Oppong remarked that every single point highlighted under the sustainable development goals (SDGs), which commands a critical global adherence, has an amazing trace to every adinkra symbol at the country's disposal.
Thus, makes these indigenous symbols a valuable asset Ghana can never overlook in fostering its sustainable development goals (SDGs).
He observed that as the SDG 17 depicts how partnership can essentially be ascertained globally, has its routes in the 'Nteasee' adinkra symbol.
Same as the SDG 3 which aims at ensuring healthy lives and promotion of well-being for all, equally has its trace in the 'Ahouden' adinkra symbol among several others.
Hence, advocated the need to take a critical look at the adinkra symbols as a country in facilitating a lasting developmental goals.
