Officials of the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) have handed over site for the construction of an ultramodern astro turf at Abura, a suburb of Cape Coast in the Central Region to constructor for the project.
The short ceremony witnessed the GNPC Foundation's Head of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Daniel Aquettey and Thomas Addo Baffoe, the Environment and Social Needs Officer for the foundation who officially presented the Abura Roman School Park as the identified site fit for the project.
Speaking in an interview to Sompa News Eric Annan, Thomas Addo Baffoe the Environment and Social Needs Officer for the GNPC Foundation remarked their purpose for visiting the Abura Roman School Park and relayed appreciation towards the hospitable reception offered them by chiefs of Abura.
Obaahemaa Ekua Okutta lll, Queen Mother for Abura who graced the ceremony with other chiefs, thanked all those through whom the astro turf project has been made possible, particularly the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast North, Hon. Horace Ekow Ewusi and his Constituency Chairman, Mr. Stephen Arhin.
She implored the citizenry of Abura to contribute their strength and expertise to the construction of the astro turf and advised youths of the community to refrain from stealing items meant for the project, since the facility is in to help the youth in particular.
NPP Chairman for Cape Coast North, Mr. Stephen Arhin who spoke on behalf of Hon. Ekow Ewusi, together with the Assemblyman for Abura-Assim Electoral Area, Hon. Moses Arthur extolled the project over its capacity to facilitate development in the community.
