The Member of Parliament for Assin South Constituency in the Central Region and Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour has assisted over 150 artisans of his district with start-up kits upon successful completion of their two-months skills training program.
Beneficiaries of the start-up kits comprised of hairdressers, manicure and pedicure specialists, make-up artists, and dressmakers.
Items distributed to them include sawing machines, hairdressers, footbaths, scissors, handcutters, among many other items.
Speaking in an interview to Sompa News Eric Annan after a stint graduation and presentation ceremony held for the artisans, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour admonished that the backbone to every country's development lies on the craftiness of its citizenry.
He recounted that the start-up kits for these artisans isn't the first time such career shaping act has been carried out by himself, as some 450 artisans have previously benefited from same gesture.
Hon. Ntim Fordjour noted that under no government in the country has artisans adequately benefited than under the Nana Addo-Bawumia led administration and beseeched constituents of Assin South to base on that, coupled with several other facilitated policies which has benefited the masses to re-elect the New Patriotic Party in the December 7 polls.
He assured that this gesture to craftsmen will not be a one-day wonder, but will be a consistent act to help unearth distinct artisans who will be locally and globally sort after from the constituency and will be fit enough to compete on world stage.
Some beneficiaries of the start-up kits, rendered their heartfelt gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the enormous support offered them to secure a brighter future to enable them live an independent life.
Artisans prior to their support of start-up kits, were taken through an intensive training on respective areas of specialization to which they were certified under a fully funded training program facilitated by Hon. Ntim Fordjour, in collaboration with Ghana Entreprises Agency and the Master Card Foundation.
