Minister for the Central Region, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan has extolled the region to have recorded cholera free cases in the month of October this year, following the region's hygienic sanitation practices put in place over the years.
She made this statement at the Central Regional town hall meeting (THM) and exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Information in partnership with the Information Service Department.
The town hall meeting offers the opportunity for the ruling government to engage with the citizenry to take suggestion, showcase government programmes, achievements and collate feedback for policy review and refinement.
The meeting again provides the platform for regions in the country to highlight progress of government interventions and projects successfully executed and also seeks to ensure inclusiveness, accountability and participatory governance.
Speaking at the Central Regional town hall meeting, Hon. Marigold Assan emphasized that through several intervention programmes facilitated by the Regional Coordinator Council, the region can now boost of an Open Defecation Free society with over 333,861 toilets across the region.
Unlike previous figure as at 2017 which was a little over 1000, hence the significant contributed to a hygienic environment in the Central Region.
Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, the Presidential Adviser On Health at the meeting, eulogized the Central Region to have immensely benefited from various government policies on health, particularly the ongoing agenda 111 project, which the region can boost of eight (8) of them with each at various forms of completion.
The Minister of Information, Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar in a media engagement after the programme, charged various MMDCEs of the region to partner with the media to broadcast the enormous projects executed at their respective districts by the Nana Addo-Bawumia led administration for constituents to know how well the government has performed over the years.
The region's well participated town hall meeting witnessed revered political figures like Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Minister of Fisheries and Aqua-Culture Development, Hon. Horace Ekow Ewusi, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast North, Honourable MMDCEs of the region, the Central Regional Chief Imam, the clergy and members from various security agencies.
