Three (3) persons have been reported dead, while 15 others have sustained several forms of severe injury following a car accident at Winneba in the Effutu Municipality in the Central Region.
The fatal car crash occured after a Toyota Vitz with registration number GW 907-24 collided with a Toyota Hiace of the O.A Express Travel and Tours with registration number, AW 78-22 at Tailer Junction, near Winneba Junction on the Winneba-Cape Coast highway.
Commander for the Winneba Municipal Fire Service, D02 Fredrick Adu-Poku in an interview revealed that driver of the Toyota Vitz vehicle tried to overtake a tricycle infront of him and in the process collided with the O.A Express Toyota Hiace onboard with passengers from Accra to Obuasi.
D02 Fredrick Adu Poku uncovered that both cars veered off the highway upon the head-on collision into a ditch.
He emphasized that one male and two female passengers died on the spot, while the remaining 15 people were sent to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
D02 Fredrick Adu-Poku cautioned road users to drive with extreme precaution in other to reduce road accidents, since it's an election year and heading towards the Christmas festivities.
