The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has unveiled and handed over an ultramodern Central Regional Labour Office complex to labour officials in the region on Wednesday.
The storey office complex comes along with two general offices, an IT office, store room, a counselling unit, kitchenette, and a spacious reception.
The Central Regional labour office forms part of government's 16 labour offices established at each region in the country through the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relation with support from the World Bank.
The labour office amid its multi-functional operations intended to carryout, seizes to match the acquired skills of citizenry in the region with available job vacancies.
Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobby, the Member of Parliament for Hemang Lower Denkyira District who at the commissioning represented the Minister for Employment and Labour Relation, Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, in an interview with the media eulogized various benefits his district, constituents and the Central Region generally stands to gain from the labour office which will go a long way to reduce the constituency's unemployment rate.
In an address delivered on behalf of the Central Regional Minister by the DCE of Hemang Lower Denkyira, Hon. Kweku Abban noted that establishment of the region's labour office is a manifestation and commitment of the Nana Addo-Bawumia government to finding a lasting and sustainable solution to the challenges of unemployment and joblessness in the Central Region and Ghana as a whole.
Adding that unemployment issues has taken a centre stage in the national development agenda during electoral sections and the tenure of government since independence.
Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku IV, Omanhene of the Twifoman Traditional Area speaking at the ceremony as Chairman for the occasion, expressed gratitude to government for the labour office and appealed on the people of Hemang to take adequate care on the building in other to portray a good reputation of the area to the country.
